You know what really "grinds my gears?" (Family Guy reference)

The mindset some people have about art as a field of study / career not being difficult, important, or comparable to other intense fields of study. Sure, art takes talent, but it also takes a LOT of work, stress, learning, practicing, money, and more. It's hard work, period.

... but I love it, it can be fun, and that's why art is a big part of my life!

Today is my 19th birthday! Woohoo! I'm happy - surrounded by family and friends who support me and wish me well.

College classes start on September 7th, and I move in September 6th. I'm getting my stuff around and hoping everything goes well.

Here's to life, and all the GOOD stuff it has to offer! <3

Short and sweet:
I'm loving summer vacation, I have a job, I love my boyfriend, and I'm so happy to be spending time with friends and family.

Sadly, my week-long spring break is coming to a close.
...But it was amazing! I spent time with my family, best friend, and boyfriend (with whom I am very much in love), and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

I also got a summer job... but I won't get into that 'till I make sure it's what I want to do.
That's the thing about summer jobs when you're in college though... they're a window for discovery and learning, whether or not you initially think you will enjoy them. The experience is preparation for life ... and fruitful on pay day!

I've been getting back into reading for fun, something I've put off for too long. I love to read! I haven't been able to in a long time because of schoolwork commitments, and it's such a relief to get back into my old hobby!

I'm looking forward to the 6-week Term III at Elmira. I have freshman fieldwork, where I basically observe at a school every day and do related assignments. I also have drawing & painting from nature. For fieldwork, I'll unfortunately have to get up really early and, if I want to be rested, go to bed at a decent hour. It'll be a busy schedule, but it'll hopefully leave more recreational time.
